WHAT IS PINTEREST?

Think of Pinterest as an online pinboard. Pinterest allows you to share products, pictures and videos of your favorite things that you find online by ‘pinning’ those items on virtual pinboards. Everything you pin has a link that points back to where you found it. The goal of Pinterest is to “connect everyone in the world through the 'things' they find interesting” and it is steadily achieving this through the power of visual imagery. Pinterest has created a real buzz and had grown exponentially in a very short amount of time. It is now driving more referral traffic than Google+, YouTube, LinkedIn and Reddit combined. Social networking sites, tech blogs and news sites are all talking about its fantastic potential.

Pinterest developed from a meagre 418,000 users to a whopping 7,516,000 users in December of that year. According to comScore, Pinterest reached the 11 million users mark in January 2012. This gives Pinterest a place in tech history for being the fastest stand-alone site to cross the 10 million user mark!

Pinterest’s traffic growth is massive. Although Pinterest is reluctant to release official numbers, third party sites have pegged the number for February 2016 to be 31.1 million hits. This is now being touted as the fastest site to hit 30 million. A study posted by Mashable.com states that Pinterest is second only to Facebook when it comes to user engagement, with users staying active on the site for an average of 89 minutes. The number of people linking from Pinterest to other sites (called referral traffic) is now greater than YouTube, Reddit, Google+ and LinkedIn combined!

A lot of Pinterest users create pinboards as a reflection of their ideal lives. Take advantage of this fact by creating a pinboard that allows them to realize some aspect of that ideal. For example, if you were a company that sells fitness foods you might want to create a pinboard for recipes that cater to fitness conscious consumers.

In a nutshell, the key to success with Pinterest is finding a way to creatively and subtly demonstrate to your target audience ways in which your products and services offer them the lifestyle they want. Pinterest is a fantastic concept with powerful marketing potential that is fast becoming a real social media contender.

I have known Pinterest for many years now. I remember how my sister loves using pictures from pinterest. She is into calligraphy, you see. And she usually finds calligraphy pictures at Pinterest. Well, even though I don't have an account, I believe that this is very useful. I am planning to make one actually. I bet the site will help me with so many things.

I love Pinterest! It is very helpful for my online business. I've been posting also my products on my personal blogs, but there are few people who visit it. So, I decided to create an account with Pinterest and post all my products there. A week after, I was surprised to see that my customers are getting bigger.
